When the drug lord Mickey Pearson (Matthew McConaughey), who has made a living from high-profile clients from among others the British nobility, plans to retire and enjoy his career, his business associates and enemies line up to take over his drug empire. This leads to an avalanche of bribes, extortion and double-dealing in the attempt to get on the throne.
