The Iron Lady is an intimate and surprising portrait of the first and until now only female prime minister in Great Britain - Margaret Thatcher (Meryl Streep). Thatcher is one of the 20th century's most controversial and powerful politicians. She entered the political scene like a bolt from the blue, and fought her way to the top by breaking through gender barriers and class divisions in a world dominated by men. The film is about power and not least about the price you pay for power. The audience gets a unique insight into an extraordinary and extremely complex person, who today is considered one of the all-time great figures (for both good and bad) in British and international politics.
